BEFORE
Hardie Board & Batten is a unique appearance. It can be used to create a contemporary style or an accent with other Hardie siding products. 16"o.c. batten spacing is very common. The Hardie siding panels need to be fastened through the sheathing and into the studs. Most wall framing is 16"o.c. This means the battens at the same spacing will cover the nail head of the panels. Small details like this can make a huge difference in the final siding product.

Z flashing must be installed to prevent water from getting behind the panels. The panel above requires a 1/4" clearance and should not be caulked.
