This home in Chevy Chase, Maryland had existing wood siding that was extremely damaged by water. There were several rotten areas of siding that needed immediate attention. The homeowner realized that repairs and maintenance can be very costly and will not improve the curb appeal of the home. They wanted a siding contractor that was experienced with James Hardie siding. The existing house sheathing was inspected prior to the installation of the new James Hardie siding. After plywood repairs were made, we installed James Hardie House Wrap to create a thermal envelope on the exterior of the home. James Hardie wall trim was then installed for the corner and window details.The window trim detail is a 4" picture frame around the perimeter of the windows. All of the trim is James Hardie Arctic White. The main siding product installed is James Hardie Lap Siding, also known as Hardiplank. The Hardiplank selected has a smooth finish with a 7" siding exposure. In the gables, the client selected to use James Hardie board & batten design as a siding accent. This detail added architectural appeal without a significant increase in project cost. The siding color selected for this project is James Hardie Boothbay Blue. All of James Hardie siding products are made of fiber cement which is extremely durable and very low maintenance.
